Arsenal could potentially sign managerial target for free next week

Arsenal

After Unai Emery left the Gunners, there has been a lot of talk about who will replace hime. You might have heard of names such as Mauricio Pochettino, Mikel Arteta and even Brendan Rodgers.

But the man that could actually land in the hot seat is former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, according to reports in Radio Marte(via Mirror).

The report states that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is on the verge of giving Ancelotti the sack. This might happen on December 10 after the club’s final Champions League against Genk.

And as a result of this decision, it will be possible for the North London club to get the Italian for free. Otherwise, they probably would have had to pay some form of compensation to free him from his existing contract.

At the moment, the reins have been handed over to former Invincible Freddie Ljungberg who is at the club as a caretaker manager.

Ancelotti has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success all over Europe as he has put his stamp on clubs such as Chelsea, AC Milan, PSG and Real Madrid. He certainly has the pedigree to do well in a club like Arsenal. And it is being suggested that the experience he has will be able to get the Gunners back on track.

His stint with Chelsea means that he will not need any time to get used to the rigors of the Premier League. He will be able to hit the ground running and help a stuttering Arsenal side.

Since the departure of Unai Emery, it is understandable for the Gunners hierarchy to be a little cautious over their next appointment. They might prefer a safer appointment like Ancelotti over a riskier one like Mikel Arteta. Arsenal need to get back into the Champions League not just for financial reasons but also because a club with this stature deserves to be in this competition.

If the board believes that the Italian is the man to do that, they will not have to wait for long. For the time being though, it is up to Ljungberg to hold down the fort until the next manager arrives or even make a case of his own.
