Most of the players that Arsenal have been linked to so far belong in the midfield and defense. Not a lot has been mentioned of the club going after players that play a little further forward.
But, the Gunners have decided that they require some reinforcements in that department as well and they are trying to bring in Goncalo Guedes from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in Cadena COPE.
The forward who spent last season on loan at Valencia is looking to leave Paris and look for opportunities elsewhere. This is understandable given the fact the Paris club already have Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their team.
Arsenal sense that this could be the right time to get the player and have enquired about his availability. Guedes was a part of the Portugal team that lost to Uruguay in the Round of 16 at the World Cup. He was able to contribute with only one assist as he impressed only in fits and starts.
Guedes came to Paris in January of 2017 but was not able to establish himself as a starter. This led to him being loaned out to Spain where he was a key member of the Valencia team. Playing as a winger, he was able to showcase his dribbling skills and this often led to the creation of chances for his teammates.
It is not going to be easy to bring the forward to the Emirates as the Gunners do not have the attraction of Champions League football. This is something that Guedes wants if he is to join a new club.
The one advantage that Arsenal might have is the fact Unai Emery was the manager of Paris Saint-Germain when the club bought Guedes. This could allow the manager to convince the player to come to London.
The Gunners are very well stocked when it comes to attacking options but it would be good if they can add another dimension to their attack. Getting Guedes would do just that as he has the ability to turn a game on its head.
