Arsenal could reportedly revive their interest in AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca after having failed with an attempt to sign him in the winter transfer window.
The Colombia international had been keen on a switch away from AC Milan last summer, but ultimately, offers were few coming with West Ham United being the sole English club to have expressed an interest.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Gunners could return for the signature of Bacca in the summer with the club said to have made an approach for his services in January.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had recruited Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in order to strengthen the forward department last year, but the Spaniard has simply failed to prove his credentials – with just two league starts to his name.
Bacca who is rated at around €30m, has been on the Gunners transfer shortlist over the past few seasons, and it is now suggested that the player himself would favour a move to the Emirates regardless of their European status next term.
The north London giants are currently five points adrift of a potential Champions League qualification place, though they have a game to catch on Manchester City.
In spite of this, Wenger appears set to earn a new contract beyond the summer with the club’s hierarchy willing to trust the Frenchman with sizeable transfer kitty to spend on top-class talents.
Bacca has netted 14 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for AC Milan this term, but this is still far off his previous season tally of 20 goals in 43 outings.
London rivals West Ham United are also monitoring the situation of Bacca, who snubbed their advances during the previous summer transfer window.
