As per a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal have once again started transfer negotiations with Juventus for the transfer of Arthur Melo.
The Brazilian midfielder made his name at Barcelona before switching to Serie A. The 25-year-old has struggled to become an essential member of the Bianconeri due to various reasons.
According to the report, the Gunners are back at the negotiation table for Arthur after trying to sign the player on loan in January. Back then, a deal could not be agreed upon with the Italian giants, so the English side are trying their luck once more.
TuttoMercatoWeb also state that the midfielder wants his future to be sorted out as soon as possible. With Juve set to fly out for their pre-season tour shortly, a deal could be accelerated if negotiations between the two clubs go well.
The Brazil international is one of the many central midfielders that have been linked with the north Londoners this summer. He joins the likes of Youri Tielemans and Lucas Paqueta who are rumoured to be looked at by the Gunners.
Arsenal Fever View:
Despite having a terrific midfield combination in Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey, it is clear that Mikel Arteta would want another player to add to this. The proposed signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko could have an effect on this as the Ukrainian can also play in the middle.
As for Arthur, his time in Italy has not gone according to plan with the player not reaching the heights of his time in Spain. But the Brazilian is still young and could develop into a top player.
A deal from the Gunners’ point of view does make sense but the question is whether he is the type of midfielder the club needs right now. Arteta will benefit from having a player who is more creative and can have a bigger influence on the attack.
Given that Arsenal have already shown that they can move quickly in the market, a deal for Arthur will depend on how serious they are. If they really want the player, we can expect to see some serious movement and the 25-year-old may well head to north London this summer.
