As per multiple sources, Arsenal have agreed on a deal to sign Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The Englishman was impressive for the Blades despite their relegation last season. His performances earned him a call up to Gareth Southgate’s England team at Euro 2020 as one of the reserve keepers.
This soon to be completed move was confirmed by David Ornstein of The Athletic who tweeted the following:
“Arsenal on verge of agreement with Sheff Utd to sign Aaron Ramsdale. £24m + £6m in add-ons (only likely to apply if/when 23yo is established 1st choice). SHU initially wanted £40m. Proposed deal 4yrs + 1 option.”
Journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed this deal as he added:
“Confirmed. Total agreement reached between Arsenal and Sheffield United after last bid – Aaron Ramsdale will be new Arsenal GK. Ramsdale has agreed personal terms with Arsenal.”

Arsenal Fever View
The Gunners needed a keeper to give Bernd Leno some competition and also to act as a backup. The price is a little high, but for a young British talent like Ramsdale, it is expected. The club have done well to bring down the initial price that Sheffield wanted.
Along with Martin Odegaard, the England international would become the club’s fifth signing of the summer. It is a clear indication that the north Londoners are in the market for players who are young and can contribute for years to come.
One factor that manager Mikel Arteta will have to contend with is how he is going to rotate the keepers. Given that there is no European football this season, there is a possibility that Ramsdale may only get to play in the domestic cups.
The amount of money spent is an indication that the Gunners have high hopes on the Sheffield stopper. Arsenal have been quite active this summer and that bodes well for the future of the team. In Ramsdale, they are getting a keeper who has potential and if the Englishman does well, this will prove to be a shrewd signing.
