BBC Sport Journalist David Ornstein has confirmed that Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal with Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
Arsene Wenger is a long-time admirer of the French striker and the Gunners have tried to bring him to the Emirates over the past few years without any success.
The 26-year-old had a wonderful season again last season scoring 37 goals in all competitions and the striker already made it clear that he wants to move on after seven seasons at Lyon.
Atletico Madrid were initially considered the favourites to sign him but the Spanish club suffered a setback on their transfer ban appeal which meant the Gunners were in the clear to complete a move for Lacazette.
Reliable journalist David Ornstein who yesterday claimed that the Gunners are continuing negotiations after their failed first bid has revealed a further update. The renowned BBC reporter has now claimed that Arsenal are now expected to sign Lacazette in a club-record deal.

Arsenal are in desperate need of some attacking signings with Alexis Sanchez expected to leave the club this summer. Lacazette is one such player who can effectively replace the Chilean if the situation arises.
The French international has consistently hit the 20-goal mark over the last few years and that too in a competitive French League which features among the top-5 leagues in the world.
The fans might have been dreaming of Mbappe signing but the fact is Lacazette has consistently proven he is a beast in front of goal which his young compatriot is yet to prove.
The fee is rumored to be £45m plus add-ons which is not only fair but will allow the club to chase other targets such as Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
