Arsenal 1-2 Watford: Reactions and Talking points

Arsene Wenger

The game against Watford was nothing short of abysmal to put it extremely lightly. It is important to state that “we win some and lose some” but I have to ask; what in God’s name was Wenger thinking by starting Ramsey in that game?

I am well aware that The Boss has a penchant for self-sabotage but this is just ludicrous, to say the least.

Having seen the way Jeff-Reine Adelaide, Maitland-Niles, and The Ox bossed the midfield over the weekend, I simply cannot accept that there was any logic fielding Ramsey to do a better job.

Ramsey is very well known for his ability to be a supreme liability when he isn’t switched on and tonight’s game was nothing short of crucial for our title chances.

The best thing I believe that happened in that game was Ramsey picking up a hamstring injury which I believe was just a cover to get him off the pitch as quickly as possible.

By the time this was effected, we were already 2 goals down in less than 15 mins at home against a side like Watford.

I must praise the Hornets, as well as they, held on strong not to lose the game when real players took center stage for the Gunners.

Lucas Perez coming on was simply painful as I could only imagine what could have been if he had been started by a more ambitious minded manager.

His thunderbolt-rocketed strike that all but went in whilst probably denting the bar irreparably will forever hunt my memories of this game.

Is it too much to just start a side that is ready to tear oppositions down without any handbrakes?

This is exactly how titles are lost. In all sincerity, an embargo needs to be placed on Wenger as regards Aaron Ramsey.

He simply cannot continue to jeopardize the hard work others put into the game in a bid to be successful by his incessant need to field Ramsey.

First, a deflection off him fooled Cech the wrong way which is even forgivable but the second goal where Etienne Capoue suddenly seemed like a crossed breed of Ronaldo and Messi simply because he switched off isn’t.

Luckily for us, there wasn’t any significant movement at the top of the table as Spurs managed to also draw blanks against relegation threatened Sunderland.

Liverpool and Chelsea shared the points at Anfield with a 1-1 draw. I guess that remains the only silver lining as far as today and Arsenal is concerned.

Thankfully, we won’t have to deal with Ramsey’s crappy game this weekend at Stamford Bridge when we take on the league leaders Chelsea.

In case you missed the game (of which I envy you, You can catch up on the summary of the game here.

Next up is Chelsea at the Bridge.

COYG!!!!
