Chile international Alexis Sanchez will meet up with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on Monday to confirm whether he would be interested in staying put at the Emirates or not.
The 28-year-old played no part in the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and China as he had been offered an additional rest following his Confederations Cup exploits with Chile this summer.
Sanchez has not openly suggested his desire to leave the Gunners this summer, and according to The Telegraph, the attacker will come face to face with Wenger for the first time in pre-season to discuss his future.
Arsene Wenger has repeatedly iterated that Sanchez is not for sale in the transfer window, but this could yet change with the Chilean likely to demand an exit from the club.
Should it be the case, Wenger could potentially be forced to offload his star performer this summer, although he is not worried by the player’s commitment, if his transfer request is turned down.
Alexis Sanchez is determined to go on to win the Champions League during the prime of his career, but this is unlikely to happen next term with Arsenal only offering Europa League final for next season.
In spite of this, Wenger has previously suggested that the Premier League holds more importance to him than Europe’s premier competition, and he would not take the poor translation over the player’s recent interview into account.
Sanchez contributed directly to 45 goals for the north London giants last term, and his influence could be key to ending the club’s 13-year wait for the Premier League crown.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are currently the main suitors for Alexis Sanchez, who has entered the final year of his Arsenal deal.
