As per noted journalist Fabrizio Romano, Anderlecht midfielder Albert Lokonga wants a move to Arsenal despite interest from two other Italian clubs.
The north London club have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old and are confident of a move. The Belgian is one of the most highly-rated talents in his country and is technically proficient in both defence and attack.
Speaking on Here We Go Podcast, Romano claimed that there is interest in the player from Italy as well, with Napoli and Atalanta throwing their hat into the ring.
The Journalist has revealed that the midfielder has made up his mind on joining Arsenal and it is now up to the north Londoners to make the move. He said:
“Lokonga is 100% open to joining Arsenal. He would love to join Arsenal, he was contacted by Italian clubs, Napoli and Atalanta, but he said, ‘my priority is Arsenal’, so let’s see if Arsenal will decide to complete the deal in the next days.”
Arsenal Fever View:
It is good news for the Gunners that the midfielder wants a move to north London. It will make the negotiation process much easier, and they should in all probability agree on a deal very soon.
Lokonga is a special talent and has shown his prodigious skills in Belgium, but it is time for him to do this on a bigger stage. Someone that has been recommended by Thierry Henry is bound to be good.
As for the Emirates club, they could do with adding another body in central midfield, an area that needs reinforcements. The Belgian might not start every game, but he will surely get enough opportunities to express himself.
At the age of 21, there is a lot to learn for the player and in Mikel Arteta, he has a manager who is capable of bringing the best out of him. The interest from Italy should propel Arsenal to act faster. With Lokonga wanting a move, the Emirates side should do everything they can to get this deal sorted out soon.
