Aaron Ramsey has been brilliant for Arsenal this season, winning both Arsenal’s player of the season and goal of the season recently.
This hasn’t stopped constant uncertainty over the Welsh international’s future, with one Italian paper claiming there is a 40% chance of the midfielder leaving Arsenal this summer.
Recently Ramsey’s agent, David Baldwin, suggested that he and the player are waiting for Arsenal to open negotiations over extending the player’s contract.
Replying to a fan on Instagram, who said that contract talks were underway between Ramsey and the club, Baldwin replied: “Not quite, we are still waiting!”
This may suggest Arsenal are hesitating over renewing Ramsey’s contract amid transfer rumours claiming that the player is wanted by Serie A champions Juventus and, closer to home, rivals Liverpool.
If Ramsey is to leave the club this summer, many believe that Liverpool would have to pay a much higher price than Juventus.
It is believed a bid in the region of £40m may be tabled in the coming weeks for the Welshman, according to reports in the Metro. This may have prompted Arsenal to wait and review offers before renewing the player’s contract.
Creating 21 goals for Arsenal through 12 goals and 9 assists, Ramsey has been Arsenal’s leader in goals created this season and many fans believe his departure would leave a big gap in the team’s creative capabilities in midfield.
Playing at Arsenal for 10 years, the player joined from Cardiff city as a youth prospect but has now become a fan-favourite for Arsenal and one of the most consistent starters for North London side.
Many fans believe the box-to-box midfielder to be indispensable and it is believed there would be uproar if the player did end up leaving the club this summer.
Ramsey has sometimes been seen as one of the main sources of creativity in the Arsenal midfield and it would be near impossible to find a player that would fit into Arsenal’s fast-paced possession-based football as he does.
