Arda Turan’s agent has finally responded to reports claiming that Arsenal are closing in on the Barcelona star, but it’s not an encouraging news for the Gunners fans.
The agent of the Turkey international has revealed that the star has no intention of leaving the Spanish club while also confirming that they haven’t heard from the North London club yet, as per Goal.com.
Turan was linked with a move to both the Gunners and Chelsea last summer before he moved to Barcelona but, things have not gone as planned for the ex-Atletico Madrid.
Reports from earlier in the week stated that the Emirates club are interested in a move to bring the Turkish international.
These reports were further backed by Barcelona’s signing of Andre Gomes from Valencia which could make his exit more likely because he will slide down the Nou Camp pecking order.
According to Goal, Turan’s agent said:
No, I haven’t heard anything from Arsenal. Arda will be staying at Barcelona
This is not the only news relating to Turan as reports in the Sun suggest that Sanchez believes Barcelona’s Arda Turan would be a good signing for Arsenal and has urged Arsene Wenger to sign the attacking midfielder.
Despite Turan’s lacklustre performances in a Barcelona shirt, the Chilean reportedly remains a big admirer of the Turkey international and has urged Arsenal to sign him.
The attacking midfielder possesses strong technical skills and an even more impressive work rate that could make him a solid capture. His style would make him an excellent signing for Arsenal, though he’s now 29, he has the capability to play some way into his 30s.
He’s exactly the kind of attacker Arsenal could do with. Alexis Sanchez, who brings bite and brilliance to the final third for the Gunners, has provided the XI with a multifaceted edge going forward since arriving from Barcelona; if Turan was to follow the same path, you suspect he’d have a similar effect.
Although his agent suggested that he will prefer to stay but I seriously doubt that considering that he hardly got game time last season and with Gomes signing, he will completely be deprived of regular game time.
If Turan does land up in London, Arsenal forward Theo Walcott’s future would be in serious doubts. There is little doubt, however, that Turan, along with Ozil and Sanchez sounds like an exciting midfield three, possibly the most exciting in the premiership. Do you think Arda Turan would be a good addition to the Arsenal?
