The representative of Lucas Perez has travelled to London to finalise the Spaniard’s move away from the Emirates this summer. The 28-year-old is desperate for a return to Deportivo La Coruna following a tough Premier League campaign where he made just two starts.
Perez has recently admitted that he feels cheated at Arsenal after the club made an ‘ugly gesture‘ of offering his number nine shirt to summer signing Alexandre Lacazette without an intimation.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Perez’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has made his way to the English capital this week where he is expected to negotiate his client’s departure from the Premier League.
Perez has already highlighted his intention to rejoin Deportivo where he is alleged to have been offered a 10-year deal, but the Gunners are likely to play hardball over his valuation.
Arsene Wenger’s side paid up a £17.1m fee to sign the £70,000-a-week forward from Deportivo last year, and the Spanish club’s initial £9m bid may not be sufficient to do business with the Gunners.
Perez managed just 11 top-flight appearances in his maiden season in English football, but only two of them were starts. He was apparently on the verge of sealing a big-money move to China last February, but Wenger blocked his proposed deal insisting that he would earn more opportunities in the tail-end of the campaign.
With the shift to the 3-4-2-1 formation, Wenger stuck with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as the main support behind the central striker, and this saw Perez among others including Theo Walcott spend their time on the substitutes’ bench.
Perez still has the ambition of earning a Spanish call-up ahead of next year’s World Cup, and a move to Deportivo could encouraging his chances after having notched 19 goals and 11 assists during his previous season (2015/16) in A Coruna.
