Spanish forward Lucas Perez will reportedly push for a summer exit from Arsenal, agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle has revealed.
The 28-year-old had barely featured for the Gunners following his £17.5m switch from Deportivo La Coruna, and he is now prepared to call quits on his Premier League career.
Perez made just nine starts under Arsene Wenger during the course of the 2016/17 season, and although he had a couple of injury niggles, he was often found on the substitutes’ bench.
The attacker has been recently linked with a potential return to Deportivo La Coruna, and his representative has heightened the speculation by suggesting that his client wishes to leave the Emirates.
“The idea is to be able to play for another club,” he told PA Sport, via ESPN. “We want to leave and Arsenal already know. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”
Arsene Wenger recently inked a fresh two-year extension with the north London outfit, but this is unlikely to improve Perez’s chances of staying after being restricted to just two starts in the Premier League.
Perez bagged seven goals and five assists during his maiden English campaign and a return to A Coruna looks a distinct possibility as he hopes to revive his chances of a Spain call-up ahead of next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Wenger is likely to be backed with a £100m transfer kitty to spend on fresh recruits and Perez’s sale could provide them additional funds to go on a summer spree.
