Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has hinted at a possible comeback to the squad with his latest post on Instagram, following his recent exile from the squad.
Having arrived in the summer of 2018, the Frenchman has been a regular for the first team having played 82 games so far. The midfielder played 34 games last season but hasn’t featured since the Brighton game where he taunted Brighton player’s over salaries.
The 21-year-old has been away on international duty with the French U-21 team, captaining them to two wins. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the youngster hinted at a comeback. The caption read:
“2 games, 6 points. Proud of my team,” Guendouzi said. “Now let’s go back to work @arsenal”.
This is significant because it is the first time the youngster has made any mention about Arsenal since he was dropped after the Brighton game. Although the post doesn’t mean he will stay at the club, but atleast it’s a suggestion that he’s still open to play for the Emirates club.
Guendouzi is a talented player but the North London club have had some issues with his attitude and conduct which led to him being dropped. But if he can make a comeback and make a positive contribution to the team, it will certainly be a big boost for the club.
Now, the task at hand for the Frenchman is to show manager Mikel Arteta that he can be trusted upon. If he is able to do this, his stock will rise even further and it gives him an opportunity to show the world what he is capable of.
At the age of 21, Guendouzi is still young in the game so mistakes are bound to happen and the most important thing for him is to show that he is willing to learn from those mistakes.
It remains to be seen if the youngster will remain at the club post the transfer season and if he does to what extent Arteta will make use of the talented midfielder. Guendouzi is undoubtedly one of most talented players in the squad and if the youngster can channel his aggression properly, he will go a long way in his career(hopefully with Arsenal).
