Arsenal’s record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in a joyous mood ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Watford this afternoon.
The Gabon international arrived from Borussia Dortmund on the final day of the winter transfer window, and he has since contributed two goals in the space of four games in all competitions.
Aubameyang’s arrival was expected to spark the Gunners’ pursuit of a top-four spot this term.
However things have since not gone right for the Gunners, who find themselves 13 points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
The north London side are currently in a run of three successive Premier League defeats, with Aubameyang featuring each of them, but the 28-year-old did manage to score a key consolation against Brighton & Hove Albion in a 2-1 defeat last weekend.
Aubameyang is expected to feature against the Hornets this afternoon after being ineligible for the Gunner’s Europa League triumph over AC Milan at San Siro.
The striker will be hoping to grab a goal for himself in order to maintain the club’s momentum ahead of the return leg with the Rossoneri in midweek.
Burnley have closed the gap to Arsenal to just two points, having played an extra game more, and manager Arsene Wenger will be desperate for his side to avoid any further drop in points owing to the recent negativity surrounding the Emirates.
