Most of the transfer activity regarding Arsenal has been focused on the defense and midfield but not much has been said about the attack so far.
That is said to change with manager Unai Emery targeting Lucas Vazquez of Real Madrid, according to reports in the Metro.
Emery hopes to bring him to the Emirates and make him a star player at the London club. And if reports are to be believed, Arsenal have presented the Spanish winger with a massive £7m-a-year contract in order to try and convince him. It is said that the manager sees him as a player that could make a real difference to the squad.
Vazquez is currently with the Spanish team in Russia for the World Cup and the winger has managed to impress in his limited role. But, prying him away from Real Madrid is going to be a very difficult task as the Spanish club consider him to be an important member of the squad.
Though he has found opportunities blocked by bigger players, he has nonetheless proven his ability whenever he has gotten a chance. It is difficult to see how the Gunners will be able to convince Vazquez to leave Real but if he does come, he will surely be able to make a difference.
Arsenal have been quite active in the market so far with two signings already confirmed with those being Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno. Apart from these two, there are moves in the pipeline for other players as well.
If and when the player arrives in London, he will be entering the peak of his career. There is nothing that will stop him from becoming a key player for Arsenal and perhaps Vazquez will be convinced by that aspect.
He has been bit of an unheralded player for Real and the chance to have a bigger influence on a team may ultimately prove to be what brings him to Arsenal. Fans will surely be happy with bringing in a player like Vazquez but the question remains whether the club can offer the price that Real will want.
