Arsenal will entertain League One clubs Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have made an indifferent start to their Premier League campaign but will be partly pleased with their goalless draw against Chelsea last weekend.
Similar to the Europa League, Arsene Wenger is likely to make wholesale changes to his Gunners lineup with David Ospina and Per Mertesacker among the certainties to start in the Carabao Cup – as it is known due to sponsorship reasons.
Lineup (3-4-2-1):
Colombia international David Ospina will certainly retain his spot as the Cup goalkeeper unless Wenger opts for a surprise by playing Matt Macey ahead of him.
Rob Holding and Per Mertesacker will make their return to the starting lineup, and they could be accompanied by Nacho Monreal to provide a bit of calm at the back.
The wing-back positions could feature the young guns with Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles probable starters on the right and left side respectively.
Nelson is regarded as one of the best upcoming talents since Jack Wilshere, and the fans will be eager to watch him make his full debut if Wenger permits.
Alex Iwobi was not entirely comfortable in his central midfield role, and we are backing Wilshere to earn a much-awaited start alongside Egypt international Mohamed Elneny.
Alexis Sanchez is likely to get another game under his belt following his cameo against Chelsea, and he could play a supporting role alongside Theo Walcott, who has barely featured this term.
Olivier Giroud has made just a single start this season, and Doncaster Rovers present the perfect opportunity of bagging his 100th goals for the club – an excellent achievement for the striker, who does not always get the recognition.
