Arsenal FC is reportedly in talks to seal a third transfer deal in about just a week before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
And despite club manager Arsene Wenger saying that they would then be quiet during the final three days of the window after completing a double scoop of a central defender and a center forward, Italian website Tuttomercatoweb have claimed that Arsenal are trying to sign Argentine Primera Division club ‘Club Atlético Lanús’ winger Miguel Almiron.
The Italian website says talks are ongoing between the two clubs over a quick deal for the Paraguay international. The 22-year-old Almiron has been the subject of interest from Italian giants Inter Milan and Spanish club Valencia as well this summer.
It is claimed that talks are now underway between the Gunners and Lanus as they attempt to settle on a price for the winger before the 2016 summer transfer window officially closes on August 31st.
Sources on Twitter have claimed that €13m would be the price to lure the talented youngster to Europe. However, Arsenal is said to have tabled a £9.4m (€11.1m) bid according to various reports.
The 22-year-old, who was handed his international debut at this summer’s Copa America in the USA, signed for Argentine champions Lanús in 2015, making the move after coming through the youth ranks at Paraguayan club ‘Club Cerro Porteño’.
Almiron scored two and created two in 12 league appearances last season for Lanus, with a total of four goals and three assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.
A work permit is not thought to be an issue as he has three Paraguay national football team caps to his name. A left winger with Lanus in Argentina, Almiron is known predominantly for his dribbling skills and pace.
Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger confirmed on Saturday that both Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have sealed moves to the Emirates stadium.
The late flurry of transfer action comes off the back of some heavy criticism from the majority of Arsenal supporters, who were frustrated by the fact that Granit Xhaka was the only apparent big-money signing of this summer.
In addition to Mustafi, Perez and Xhaka Arsenal have also signed Takuma Asano, Rob Holding, and Kelechi Nwakali this summer.
With just three days left for the transfer window to officially close apart from one or two departures, Wenger is reportedly not expected to welcome in any more new players. Hence let us just wait and watch until the last moment to see how this rumor unfolds.
