[Video] Ospina shows off incredible skill in charity game

David Ospina

David Ospina showed off his incredible dead-ball skills as he almost scored from a freekick during the ‘Cuadrado v Pogba’ charity match.

The charity match was held in Colombia where both players were promoting their respective foundations with Pogba’s side emerging victorious by a 6-3 margin.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina also starred in the match and performed well under the bars, but what impressed the fans was his antics on the other end of the pitch.

Pogba’s side were leading 5-2 with 20 minutes remaining when they were awarded a free-kick 20 yards from goal and the £89 million Manchester United striker let Ospina take it.

To everyone’s surprise, the Colombian whipped a wonderful effort which was deflected on to the post by the goalkeeper. Check it out below.

That freekick alone should be enough to cement his place in the Gunners first team but keeping the wit aside the Colombian is at crossroads in his club career.

Ospina has struggled to displace Cech as Wenger’s preferred shot-stopper and was heavily linked with a move away last month, but the rumours have since subsided.

The future of the returning Szczesny is also uncertain and this might ultimately be the deciding factor. Ospina is basically the best backup goalkeeper in the Premier League and it would be vital to keep hold of him unless Szczesny is willing to stay put.

It’s now up to Wenger to decide who is the better long term solution for the North London club.

Here are the highlights of the game:
