“Emery out, don’t you dare”, Arsenal fans warn club to avoid signing £80,000-a-week midfielder

Arsenal supporters have produced mostly negative reactions on social media after Marouane Fellaini confirmed that he would be deciding on his future on July 1.

The Belgium international has been with Manchester United for the past five seasons but his stay appears to be coming to an end after declining a contract beyond the end of the month.

As such, a number of top clubs around Europe have been associated with his signature but the Gunners’ fans are fearing the worst amid manager Unai Emery’s prior interest in the midfielder.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions:

Obviously, Emery was hugely tipped to make a move for the £80,000-a-week during the early phase of the transfer window but the deal was supposedly put off amid the midfielder’s £120,000 plus wage demands.

Nevertheless, the speculation linking Fellaini with the club does not seem to cease and the Belgian’s potential arrival at the Emirates would surely be a nightmare for a section of the faithful, who have enjoyed aiming digs at United for trying to keep hold of his services.

During Emery’s first speech as the Gunners boss, he promised to adopt a ‘very intensive pressing’ playing style at the Emirates and judging by this, Fellaini would come far from matching his ambitions with his distinct lack of speed.

As such, the Gunners should pass on the opportunity to sign Fellaini during the summer, though Emery may possibly have other plans in mind. Arsenal are yet to make a midfield signing this summer but they are seemingly close to acquiring the signature of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria.
