Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has nothing but praise for his teammate Laurent Koscielny, who scored a spectacular goal against Southampton on his birthday, after a Dusan Tadic free-kick was directed towards the back of the net due to a a Petr Cech on goal.

The two footed Spaniard, who is arguably Arsenal’s most influential player and at the heart of everything at Arsenal, was also on target converting a penalty awarded to Arsenal in the closing minute of extra time.

And according to The Express,  when asked about his teammate, here is what Cazorla had to say:

It’s amazing play from him – he’s one of the best defenders in the world,

We’re lucky that he plays for Arsenal so congratulations to Laurent and happy birthday my friend.

When asked about the Champions’ League fixture against French super giants PSG, Cazorla had this to say:

The most important thing is the team; we played very well; we need to improve week by week. And now we need to think about PSG on Tuesday.

Although this is only the 4th week of the season, Koscielny’s spectacular bicycle kick that left the Southampton defense and all those watching the game momentarily stunned, is being touted as a contender for the goal of the season. Although it is too early in the season to say that more such goals are not expected, (with Zlatan Ibrahimovic now in the league), it can be said with some conviction that one does not get to see such goals week in and week out, and certainly not so often in the Premier League ( remember Christian Benteke’s goal against Manchester United last season?)

Koscielny, who was appointed vice captain prior to the start of the Arsenal’s season, has helped Arsenal compete aggressively in the Champions League, and is now fit to play against PSG after a minor knock he endured in the closing minutes of the game against Southampton.
