Swansea City 0-4 Arsenal: Who impressed and who didn’t

The game at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon is one that even though we didn’t start as badly as in the Bournemouth game, was in all honesty quite drab from a Gunner’s point of view.

The currently red hot Olivier Giroud was on hand to turn in Özil’s meek headed attempt in from close range after an Alexis Sanchez’s sumptuous cross from the left.

Up until that point, however, Swansea were all over us. They seemed extremely hungry and determined. If a Mike Oliver or Mike Dean was in charge today, we would have conceded another questionable penalty after Ki went down in the box due to the challenge from Koscielny.

Thank God we got the other Mike (Jones).

The second half was a different kettle of fish. Whilst Swansea came out game raising, Arsenal rolled out guns blazing. With exquisite displays all over the park by the North London club, The Swans were left chasing the game.

As a result of the pressure they were feeling, Swansea found it difficult to clear their lines and got punished thanks to Alex Iwobi’ s deflected strike which left Former Gunner L. Fabianski stranded.

A third flew in courtesy of another Alex Iwobi marauding run down on the left after Giroud was substituted off. His cross to Sanchez around the penalty area was deflected in by Cork.

Soon after, Alexis Sanchez got on the scoreboard to put Arsenal up for a fourth after blasting in from close range courtesy of another Alex Iwobi surge and strong play.

Without a doubt, Alex Iwobi is my man of the match by a mile. Oxlade-Chamberlain was very lively when he came on however, Alexis Sanchez has to be my second favourite player in the game thanks to his drive, goal and after substitution reaction…Lmao. … (got to love the guy).

Worst players for me today will be difficult to pick and everyone did their bit in the second half and hence the result. Special mention to Granit Xhaka who doesn’t get enough praise for his protection of the back four and his pinpoint distribution all over the pitch.

Özil seemed in the mood and had a pretty decent outing. Even though G.Paulista didn’t fling one across today, his defensive displays were commendable.

It seems Giroud’s toe might be the issue but fingers crossed to hear the Boss’s assessment report on that.

This win takes us to 44 points and 3rd on the table pending the Everton and Man City clash.

Very happy my prediction was smashed out of the water. I will take a 0-4 in favour of Arsenal any day, anytime.

Till the thought.
