Sky Sports reporter confirms Aubameyang has agreed £183,000-a-week contract with Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Sky Sports reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal have finalised personal terms with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of his proposed switch to the Emirates this month.

The Gabon international has agreed to a three-and-a-half year deal with the north London outfit with wages of £183,000-a-week, which would make him the club’s highest-earner ahead of Mesut Ozil.

Arsene Wenger’s side have already failed with an opening £44m bid for the ex-Saint-Etienne striker, and it appears that Dortmund are unlikely to sanction the marksman’s sale unless the club come close to their £53m valuation.

Aubameyang has had his issues with discipline during his time at Signal Iduna Park, but his qualities on the pitch have never been doubted with 141 goals in just 212 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

The 28-year-old was left out of Friday’s Bundesliga outing versus Hertha Berlin owing to him being unsettled, and his move to the Emirates seem to be inching closer, though we have seen plenty of transfer setbacks in the past.

Alexandre Lacazette netted his first goal in over 45 days during the 4-1 triumph over Crystal Palace yesterday, and it will be interesting to see how Wenger would set up his side, should both the Frenchman and Aubameyang start.

Arsenal returned to winning ways with a convincing win over Palace on Saturday afternoon, and this has closed the gap on fourth-placed Liverpool to just five points, though their rivals have an easy-looking game on the road to bottom side Swansea City.

As things stand, the club would potentially welcome two signings before the transfer deadline with Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely to be reunited with ex-teammate Aubameyang, a combination which caught the eye of Europe’s elite a couple of years ago.

Hopefully there won’t be any late surprises!
