Sky Sports journalist confirms Arsenal are in talks to complete deal for Thomas Lemar

Lemar

Sky Sports correspondent Aidan Magee has provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of AS Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar. The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a switch to the Emirates, but a deal has failed to materialise to this period.”We are told discussions are ongoing over the future of this man – attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has managed to bolster his squad with the signings of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette this summer, and he is said to be eyeing at least a couple of signings before this month’s transfer deadline.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre, reporter Magee has revealed that the Principality club are holding out for a sum of around £50m after having snubbed two offers worth £30m and £40m from the Gunners.

“We are told discussions are ongoing over the future of this man – attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar. Arsenal have already had two bids of £30m and £40m rejected by Monaco. The Ligue 1 side are thought to be holding out for £50m,” he said h/t The Express“Head coach Leonardo Jardim, meanwhile, has told reporters that he can’t guarantee they’ll keep all their important players.”

Lacazette arrived at Arsenal from Lyon for a club-record £46m earlier last month, and Wenger will probably have to break the feat once again in order to pursue the highly-rated attacker.

Lemar is the not the only player on the Gunners’ wish list with Nice’s Jean Michael Seri also attracting interest, but his move is dependant on Nice’s failure to reach the Champions League proper next term.

The last month or so has been relatively quiet in terms of transfer activity, and Wenger appears to have made his mind up to pursue the above-mentioned players before the transfer window closes on August 31.
