Man City boss Pep Guardiola has responded to reports which claimed that the Spaniard made a personal phone call to Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean International has been hugely impressive this season and scored a deserving hat-trick over the weekend in the Gunners 5-1 win over West Ham.

Reports in Chilean publication El Mercurio(posted by Metro) earlier in the day stated that Guardiola reached out to Sanchez after his hat-trick and has held talks over a possible move to the Manchester side.

It further states that this is the not the first time the former Barcelona boss has held talks with the forward, who he worked with at Nou Camp for one year.

However during Man City’s pre-match press conference ahead of their Champions League tie against Celtic, the Citizens boss confirmed that the reports are absolutely false. According to Goal, he said:

Absolutely false. The journalist is a liar. Guys, this journalist is a liar.

The Chilean has been in sublime form for Wenger’s side this season, scoring 13 goals in 19 appearances. He has been deployed primarily as a left winger since joining the club few years back, but has thrived as a central striker this season and is currently the Premier League’s joint-leading scorer with eleven goals.

His current contract with the North London club will expire in the summer of 2018 and there have been reports that the talks have stalled over the Sanchez’s wage demands, however Wenger recently suggested(via Sky Sports) that they have enough time to sort out the situation.

Sanchez has been the go-to player this season and fans will be eager for the contractual situation to be resolved as soon as possible. Coming to the reports, aah it’s just a waste of time to even talk about it.
