Sanchez and Ozil warned over excessive contractual demands by Arsenal chief

Arsenal have released their latest financial statement covering the last 6 months and have recorded a profit of over £12 million pounds despite heavy spending in the Summer.

A combined total of £110 million pounds was coughed out to add Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Rob Holding to the team. Irrespective of where the income was generated, directly or indirectly, the fans are largely responsible for this feat.

Whilst delivering his statement, Sir Chips may have unintentionally revealed the club’s mentality towards the ongoing contract talks. At the center of this speculation are contract rebels Mesut Özil and Alex is Sanchez.

His statement on the club’s approach and concern towards the significant rise in expenditure of the club in regards to improved contracts and its financial implication to the books were highly suggestive.

So much so that one has to wonder if the club is more interested in the business aspect of the club or success on the pitch.

According reported by Arsenal’s official website, here is the quote from the attachment that has got everyone predicting that the end is near for Sanchez and Özil at the Emirates:

“Whilst these are the market forces that have contributed directly over time to the success of the Premier League I would sound a note of caution in light of the very material contractual commitments to future wages that clubs are taking on.”

“Further work is required in the area of contract renewals and we will continue to invest rationally in our squad retention as we move forward.”

Keyword in that quote being “invest rationally”. For all intents and purposes, that phrase doesn’t seem to encourage the idea that the club is willing to do whatever is necessary to retain the services of two of Arsenal’s world-class players.

It is therefore seemingly apparent that keeping the financial burden associated with player contracts in check is more of a priority for the club over actually having these players in the club.

Metro have reported already that the duo have requested for wage packets in the region of £250,000-a-week which the Bigwigs are seemingly unhappy about thereby making the probability of selling them in the summer more likely.

TV rights, merchandising, international partnerships and ticket sales were listed as huge sources of income. However, without the fans, I don’t see how any of that would be possible.

The fans would appreciate it if the club would go out on a limb and ensure the retention of all key players’ services. On the pitch success generates more fans which in turn increases income and this ensures stability….
