Revealed: I’m not considering new contract, confirms Arsenal star

Jack Wilshere

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he is not considering a contract extension right now, as per Sky Sports.

The Englishman has been struggling with injuries throughout his Gunners career and joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan this summer.

The 24-year-old will only have one-year left on his contract, when he returns to the Gunners next summer.

When queried on his contract extension at Arsenal, the play-maker has revealed that his current focus is to prove himself at Bournemouth and return back a better player. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

I don’t want to think about that at the moment because I want to go back having had a good season – not just being fit, but I want to have an effect on the team.

I want to improve as a player and go back at the end of May and they can say he’s a better player than when he left in September.

However, Arsenal’s youth product claimed that he still loves the Emirates club and won’t rule out a return, but he suggests that’s currently not his mind. He added:

I love Arsenal. I love the fans. The manager has been great to me and been a big part of my life from when I was 10 years old. I’ve got good friends there, players, the staff and people will laugh, but the physios too. I’ve become close with them.

So I don’t want to say I’m never going to go back there but at the same time, I’m not really thinking about that. My focus is helping Bournemouth climb the table and improving myself as a player.

Wilshere has abundance of talent and was one of the brightest prospects in England when he first burst onto the scene. However nothing has gone his way since, majorly due to recurring injuries throughout the career.

He was never really able to cement his place in the starting line-up both at club and international level. The midfielder did show flashes of brilliance in the interim, but he never got that continuous run of games.

The loan move has come at a right time for the Englishman and if he can put in some consistent performances for the Cherries, then he will have a great chance of convincing Wenger that he still belongs at the Emirates club. Hopefully he returns to the club a better player. What do you think guys?
