The Sanchez saga continues: Abdominal strain, Paris trip and a tweet

There is nothing that destroys a relationship like mistrust. When Alexis Sanchez delayed his return to first team training in the guise of having the flu, so many people(including myself) doubted the claim.

I myself didn’t believe it, not because of the assumption that Alexis was lying but it felt the flu shouldn’t be enough to keep someone like him from not playing.

Eventually, he returned and joined his colleagues in training and was caught by the cameras kissing the crest. This was read by a lot of fans as a sign that the Chilean has decided to stay at Arsenal.

While basking in the euphoria of having our superstar back, Arsene Wenger revealed that Sanchez has suffered an abdominal strain. He was not only going to miss our opening day game with Leicester but will be out for about 2 weeks.

I am not a physician and know nothing about how much damage an abdominal strain causes, but it just didn’t feel right.

Sanchez loves to play football and I just don’t think such a minor discomfort will keep him out for so long. It felt that he just did not want to play for Arsenal again but both himself and the club management are toying with the emotions of the fans.

As if to confirm our fear, just two days after watching his teammates struggle to break the first-match-day curse, Alexis Sanchez tweeted from Paris(yeah! You have it right, Paris).

Just as quickly as the tweet came alive, the forward deleted it and retweeted same lines with the location turned off. The content of the tweet cannot be as important as the location and the attempt to conceal it.

As expected, fans went into a frenzy with some demanding that the attacker make his decision known to the fans, at least as a way of respect.

It is not expected (at least, I personally do not expect it) that Wenger or anyone at the club will be kind enough to explain to us why Alexis is nursing his stomach strain in Paris. All we can hope is that they quickly resolve the situation of the South American so as not to bring any form of disruption to the team.
