Mohamed Elneny reacts as Arsenal sign Stephan Lichststeiner

Stephan Lichsteiner

Whenever there is a new signing made by a club, it is fascinating to see how people react to it.

And with the popularity of social media at its peak, people are free to say anything that they want. This is even more apparent when Arsenal make a signing or even if a player is linked to the club.

But, another aspect of this reaction is how the players within the club react. We do not know exactly know how the Arsenal stars feel about someone but we can get a sense of it through their social media activity.

There was a time, a little while ago, when many members of the squad would welcome a new player. Though that has reduced to an extent, it is always nice to see that kind of camaraderie.

The signing of Stephan Lichststeiner has elicited mixed reactions to say the least. There are those who are happy with it as it provides a competent and experienced backup to Hector Bellerin. On the contrary, there are those who think that this is a sign of regression.

Whatever your reaction may be, the player has to be given a chance to prove himself. Keeping this in mind, it is always nice to see someone be welcoming. This is what happened with Mohamed Elneny.

The Egyptian midfielder retweeted the new signings tweet and added his own message to the incoming veteran. He said:

“Welcome on board”.

A short but effective message. Football is, after all, a team game and it is important for a connection to prosper. It is small acts such as this that will go a long way in doing just that.

Fans will be hoping that this connection extends to the pitch as well. Very often, we have seen a team that is talented but lacking in the mental aspect of the game.

Perhaps the incoming Swiss defender will be able to help with that aspect as well. This will allow a talented squad to elevate itself and achieve the results that it is capable of.
