Major signings happening everywhere… but not at Arsenal.

Some things in life are certain: death, taxes, and Arsene Wenger not signing a decent striker.

Arsene Wenger

With the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Michy Batshuayi and Nolito joining Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, will it be another season of heartbreaks for Arsenal fans with no real activity in the transfer market?

At the moment, the transfer activity has been quiet. Yes, we have signed Xhaka before the transfer window opened but apart from that we’ve done nothing.

Things are quiet at Arsenal and all around us, we hear lots of rumors and players linked with Arsenal but there is no concrete base for these rumors.

Even the clubs like Crystal Palace, Watford and Middlesbrough have been busy in the transfer market. Liverpool have also signed a couple of players and they are not even playing in the Europa League.

We look over Arsenal, we see Takuma Asano been signed obviously for the future but what about now? The latest thing we’re hearing about is Lacazette.

Arsene Wenger apparently had talks with his representatives and these are just rumors but Wenger’s not prepared to meet the 40 million plus asking price that the Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has put up for Lacazette which again is something we’ve seen before. Suarez, Higuain to name a few.

We’ve also seen the quotes from Jean-Michel Aulas about Lacazette, he said,

“We have had a few calls, but Alexandre will stay,” Aulas told Canal+. “I think it is his desire and the coach [Bruno Genesio] counts on him.”

There have been many rumors of players coming to Arsenal and not even single one materializing.

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly was linked with us before even the transfer window started but now reports are linking him with a move to Chelsea. Yes, they’ve got loads of money but not the Champions league and for that matter not even Europa league. Nothing’s definite but you can see where I’m going with this.

Michy Batshuayi was linked with Arsenal, signed with Chelsea and mind you he’s an Arsenal fan. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was linked with us for weeks, looked like a world class signing but apparently He’s signing with Manchester United. Again, Manchester United are not in the Champions League while Arsenal are.  Does it matter ?

It’s not encouraging at the moment. With us playing in the Champions League, you have to start asking questions. Is it happening again ?

Arsene Wenger and the Board have to be more aggressive in the transfer market.

Yes, there aren’t any World class strikers in the market right now but for the players that are, you have to pay big money in order to persuade them to come to the Emirates.

Chelsea signed Michy Batshuayi for 35 Million and he hasn’t even proven himself in the French league. Even Watford rejected a deal worth about 38 million pounds for Ighalo from Chinese League and over 25 Million pounds for Troy Deeney. Clubs have got loads of money and you simply have to pay over the odds because the money is in the premier league and what’s wrong in asking clubs with money for more and more and more!

Now this season could be the last for Wenger and he has to be aggressive enough to leave back a team which can win trophies on it’s own and not like how Ferguson left United.

If they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is, we can see a lot of action after the Euros have finished.

We need a striker and there are plenty out there. Icardi, who has been linked with us continuously, wants to stay with Inter while some reports are also linking him with a move to Tottenham. Arsenal have to get aggressive and get Morata or Icardi, paying their clubs the money they want. We need a big money signing and it’s going to  be hard to get a big name with this kind of an approach.

If we don’t do something big in the transfer window, we’re not winning the league, especially in the striker department. We need someone to compliment Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey and Giroud.

The Structure there at Arsenal has to be aggressive so that some world class talent, needed to win the league can be brought in; in addition to pleasing  the angry Arsenal fans waiting for the trophy for 12 years now.

It’s still early but let’s not forget we have  only signed one marquee player last year. Let’s hope it’s more than one this year.

Is this going to be another season where Arsenal are  left trailing in the transfer market ? Well we certainly do not want Van Persie back at the club! Hope the search ends before the transfer window shuts and we get ourselves a top quality striker.
