Lucas Torreira to complete Arsenal transfer move: Medical and contract details revealed

It looks like Arsenal have finally got their man as Lucas Torreira is set to be confirmed as a Gunner, according to reports in the Express.

After Uruguay crashed out of the World Cup, the player was given the chance to travel to London and seal the deal. Now, the details of the contract have been revealed and it has thrown up some interesting information.

The midfielder has not gone back to his country as he and Arsenal have decided that it would be better off to get the medical and other formalities done first. The report also states that the midfielder will sign a four-year contract.

This was confirmed by the national team as well who put out a statement detailing the travel plans of the team.

This is what they had to say:

‘A charter flight will return 17 of the 23 players that make up the squad. Carlos Sanchez, Lucas Torreira, Gaston Silva, Martin Silva, Cristhian Stuani and Rodrigo Bentancur will not return with the delegation,’ the statement read.

It is good that Arsenal have decided to conclude the deal now rather than wait for a later time. If they had done that, it would have only made fans feel a little more nervous about the whole deal. Now, fans can relax and wait to see Torreira holding the Arsenal shirt.

From what we know about the contract details, it appears to be quite a steal for the Gunners given the way things are going these days. We live in a time where the market is so inflated that some of the money being quoted is really crazy.

In such a scenario, Arsenal have done really to get a player of the caliber of Torreira at such a price. The midfielder was an important player at the World Cup as he was able to show his defensive and offensive talents.

It is only a matter of time before the player is announced as a member of the Arsenal squad. Torreira will become the fourth signing that Arsenal have made this summer and it will be the first player who is not a defender or goalkeeper.
