Nicklas Bendtner close to signing and could play in Nottingham Forest v Arsenal game

Nicklas Bendtner is set to seal a return to English football with Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest have verbally agreed a deal to sign the Danish international who has been a free agent since leaving German club Wolfsburg last season.

It’s been all downhill since Bendtner really broke through at the Emirates eight years ago, scoring 15 goals in 50 games during the 2008/09 season and in totality scored 45 goals for Arsenal in 171 games between 2005 and 2014. After few fruitless years at Arsenal and struggling out on loan with Sunderland and Juventus, Lord finally moved to Germany. But Bendtner managed just nine goals in 47 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit after failing to kick a ball for the last three months of the campaign due to disciplinary issues.

The 28-year-old frontman, on the lookout for a new team – and, according to respected Greek journalist Antonis Oikonomidis who appears to have a strong link with the club, he could be on his way to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest currently sit in seventh in The Championship, having bagged nine points from five matches this season. They have scored 11 goals in the process. He will become Forest’s 12th signing of the summer, as new head coach Philippe Montanier stamps his influence on the side.

If Bendtner does sign for Nottingham Forest, he could well be facing former side Arsenal in just two weeks as they host his former team in the EFL Cup (the League Cup).

If he plays in the cup match, it’ll be a great spectacle seeing Lord again against his former club and knowing Bendtner, he’ll no doubt score a goal before doing absolutely nothing for the remainder of his Forest career.

What do you think about this move ? Will be re-capture his lost form or will it be one of those spells again for Bendtner ?
