Liverpool 4-0 Arsenal – Player Ratings: Bellerin and Xhaka dreadful in thrashing

Arsene Wenger

It was another frustrating day at Anfield. Frustrating, in fact, is a mild way of describing the game- it was a humiliation for Arsenal and its fans, as Liverpool ran riot with four unanswered goals.

The Gunners have now suffered back-to-back defeats and are currently languishing at 16th position in the Premier League table with 3 points from 3 games.

Here are our player ratings, nevertheless:

Petr Cech: 5.5/10 – I feel so sorry for the veteran goalkeeper. He has been let down by the Arsenal defence and without him, the scoreline could have been more embarrassing – as if it was not already embarrassing enough.

Rob Holding: 4/10 – It is so bad to see Holding heading down the Chamber’s way. It was a surprise to see him start ahead of Mustafi but he didn’t do anything to justify the manager’s decision. Holding has done much better in the past and it is sad to see him playing like a helpless kid.

Laurent Koscielny: 3.5/10 – The Frenchman did not only fail to do his job, he failed to make others do their own. While we hoped for his return, nobody imagined what we saw today.

Nacho Monreal: 3/10 – It is becoming really hard to understand Monreal and his game. It’s just sad.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain: 2.5/10 – If the player had actually requested a transfer as speculated, why did he even start in such an important match. The attitude was not just there, and if he is indeed leaving, his showing today was a very bad way to play his last game for the club.

Hector Bellerin: 2.5/10 – I don’t know whether to blame him or the manager for his performance today. The young man has seen a dip in form and playing him out of position is something no one can really understand. He was dreadful.

Aaron Ramsey: 2/10 – He seems to have a split personality, as he is either very good or very bad. He was just so poor that even his number one fan substituted him during half time.

Granit Xhaka: 2.5/10 – It is sad to watch Xhaka recently. All the promises! All the hopes! We hope he discovers himself quickly.

Mesut Ozil: 2/10 – Ozil recently seems to be trying very hard to justify his critics. There is just no passion, no energy and one wonders, why he was left on the pitch for the whole duration of the match.

Alexis Sanchez: 4/10 – Finally, he returned after the flu and badly timed stomach ache. For the period he was on the pitch, he was professional enough.

Danny Welbeck: 3/10 – Wenger’s obsession with Welbeck is worrying. with two fit strikers sitting on the bench, Welbeck was preferred upfront and there was not a single move to justify the decision.

Substitutions

Francis Coquelin: 3/10 – Coming on to play in place of Aaron Ramsey, he was not able to prevent the Reds from scoring two more goals neither did he create any chance.

Olivier Giroud: (NA) – The game was over before he was brought on so he had no way of influencing the game.

Alexandre Lacazzette: (NA) – Brought in at the same time as Giroud, Arsenal new striker didn’t have any chance of impacting the outcome.
