Liverpool plan to snap another Arsenal midfielder this summer

Jack Wilshere

Arsenal are potentially facing the prospect of losing midfielder Jack Wilshere to Premier League rivals Liverpool in the summer.

The Reds have recently done business with the Gunners with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain switched between the sides six months ago.

Wilshere has just five months left on his existing deal with the Gunners, and he has been offered fresh terms on the table which includes a reasonable pay-cut which may be boosted with add-ons on appearances and achievements.

However, according to The Sun, Jurgen Klopp’s side could be set to pounce on the Stevenage-born ace, should he fail to come to terms with the Gunners before the close of the current campaign.

The Merseyside outfit are prepared to match Wilshere’s current £90,000-a-week wages in full, and a potential agreement could see him reunited with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a free transfer in the summer.

Despite the speculation, it would come as a huge surprise if Wilshere does make a shock switch to Anfield.

The Englishman has repeatedly revealed his love for the Gunners, whilst suggesting that he would like to commit his long-term future.

The lack of regular gametime had been an issue in the early phase of the campaign, but this has improved in recent months, though the return of Aaron Ramsey could yet have its implications in the coming matches.

The Welshman marked his goalscoring return with a career-first hat-trick versus Everton last weekend, and he has certainly cemented his place for the derby unless Wenger has other plans in mind.
