Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has successfully completed his Achilles surgery, the Spain international confirmed on his official Instagram account.

The Spaniard suffered the injury in Arsenal’s 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets in October and was initially only expected to miss few weeks of action.

However, Arsenal’s official website last week confirmed that the midfielder will undergo a surgery to correct an Achilles problem that has already kept him out of action for two months.

The report further claimed that once the procedure is complete, it might take atleast 3 months for the 31-year-old to return to action.

But, the former Malaga player few days back confirmed that he will return in eight weeks following a positive diagnosis with regards to identifying the problem.

Cazorla posted a picture of himself preparing for his tea and toast after his successful foot operation. He captioned:

Surgery done! It was perfect! Looking forward to be back at the #emiratesstadium with you!

The Gunners certainly missed him over the past few weeks. Wenger has been playing Xhaka and Coquelin at the base of his midfield, and while both players performed well individually, the Gunners lacked the forge to create many goal scoring chances.

When the Spaniard starts in a deeper role, he is able to pick his way between opposition lines with a combination of nimble footwork and accurate passing. He’s capable of swivelling swiftly in either direction before slaloming through the opposition midfield, which makes him so unique within the Arsenal squad.

With the surgery done and dusted, it’s up to Wenger and his medical team to bring him back as soon as possible.
