Huge boost for Arsenal as three players return ahead of West Brom game

arsenal-training

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey are back in training, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is close to a return, as per Arsenal’s official website.

Here is what the Boss said on Welbeck:

The good news is that Welbeck will join in today for the first time – he has been out for a very long time.

Welbeck has spent the last seven months on the sidelines after undergoing major knee surgery, but he is on the brink of returning to the first-team action now that he is playing a full part in training with the first team.

Obviously, it will take time for Welbeck to get back to match fitness and he’s unlikely to take any part in the first time at least until January, but it will still be a huge boost to have him during the second half of the season.

Mustafi has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury during the early stages of our 3-1 victory over Stoke City at the Emirates on December 10th.

The German international has been sorely missed the past two games as we’ve suffered painful defeats away to Everton and Manchester City which has left out title challenge hanging by a thread.

On Mustafi, Wenger said:

Mustafi is still out until the beginning of January.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to miss this weekend’s game with West Brom after suffering a hamstring injury against City at the weekend, but Arsene revealed that recent injury is not as bad as first feared.

Aaron Ramsey has also been missing with a minor toe problem but is expected to be available for selection again soon after returning to training this week. Regarding the midfield duo, the French boss added:

I think for Monday we lose Chamberlain from the last game against City. I don’t know if Ramsey will be involved or not but he will be back in full training today.

[Chamberlain]It’s not very bad. It’s a question of days rather than weeks.

Hopefully, we can have these players back in action pretty soon.
