Henry takes up his first coaching role at Arsenal

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is back at the club and has reportedly began working with the Gunners youth academy, according to reports.

The Gunners all-time leading goal scorer retired from the game last year and recently signed a big-money contract with Sky Sports to work as a pundit.

The striker has also expressed his desire to take up a coaching job and has already started working towards his UEFA ‘A’ and ‘B’ coaching badges, but it seems he will continue the work closer to home this time, after taking up a position at Arsenal’s much coveted Hale End youth academy.

It will be great to have a person of his stature helping the kids and he will also be able to pass on some priceless knowledge to the young players. This stint will also help Henry, as he too will gain some valuable experience that will definitely assist his coaching aspirations.

It’s always great to watch some of the former players returning to the club in some capacity, but having Henry back is simply wonderful. Hopefully he can get his coaching badges and move up the coaching ranks with the Gunners.

It was bitter to see another legend Vieira not being offered any role at the club which eventually led him to join rivals Manchester City, so it’s definitely a welcome change. Henry has previously admitted that he would one day love to take over the managerial role, once Wenger ends his reign.

Henry has all the attributes to succeed in the coaching field, but it’s all about gaining the required experience and the time is definitely on his side as he is still only 37 years old which is the best time to start in this field. It would be a dream to see him taking over the reins from Wenger, although the idea seems a little farfetched currently.
