French star awaits Arsenal transfer amidst interest from Chelsea and United

French international Blaise Matuidi is reportedly set to leave PSG after the Ligue 1 giants signed Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla.

Blaise Matuidi is set to depart from Paris Saint-Germain this summer for a deal worth £22m and Arsenal are among the clubs vying for his signature, according to the reports from talkSPORT.

The French midfielder departed from Saint-Etienne in 2010 and joined PSG and  has evolved into one of the top midfielders in world football over the past five years. However, after the arrival of Grzgorz Krychowiak from Sevilla, news has come in that it might have to be the capital city’s star midfielder who makes way for the Polish new comer.

Earlier this week, the reports from Express claims that the 29-year-old ace had been given the go ahead to leave the French Euro 2016 training camp to fly to England to hold talks with the Premier League giants Manchester United.

Matudi, 29, is understood to be waiting to see what is it that England clubs have for him with the Ligue 1 winners willing sell him for a deal worth £22m : An absolute steal for the quality a player of his caliber can provide.

I don’t see Wenger signing any other midfielder. Having already signed Granit Xhaka,  it is unlikely Wenger will show any serious interest unless someone leaves the club. Chelsea could attempt at luring him too,  for their new manger, Antonio Conte is determined to add a few new faces to the side.

While central midfield, is adequately stocked at the Emirates, Matuidi is arguably an upgrade over some of the midfielders on the Arsenal roaster. The frenchman is rated to be the best box to box midfielder; capable of playing centrally, out wide and in front of the back four, while also orchestrating build up play. Like El Neny, he can distribute the ball anywhere on the pitch; out wide, back to his ball playing central defender, into the feet of a striker, etc.

He has an extra ordinary engine as well. Games in which he has partnered Marco Verratti in midfield are testimony to this fact.

Arsenal now have Granit Xhaka who is likely to partner either Aaron Ramsey and eventually, Santi Cazorla, who is likely to remain Arsenal’s first choice midfielder for the deep lying position.

Good times ahead for midfielders, at Arsenal! Two positions, 6 players.. and if Matuidi was to come, that would make it 7.

Do you think Matuidi would make a good signing for Arsenal?
