Former Arsenal player claims Unai Emery had a part in Aaron Ramsey’s contract situation

Unai Emery

The contract situation of Aaron Ramsey and the club’s handling of this has been commented a lot on from many angles.

There does not seem to be any compromise in sight as we will have to wait for sometime before any decision is made. Amidst this, there have been many people offering their opinion and the latest to be added to this is list is former player Paul Merson.

Regarding the contract situation, this is what Merson had to say(according to Express):

“The contract was on the table and Arsenal withdrew it, and it sounds like to me the manager has said: ‘Hold on a minute, I’m not giving him that kind of money, I can get a better player than that”.

This is an interesting take on the whole situation but it does seem like there might be some merit to it. It is possible that Emery decided that he could find another player who was better suited to his system and that would benefit the team a lot more.

If this was the case, then it makes sense as to why the Gunners actually went ahead and retracted their contract offer. This along with the news that the club is looking at other players seems to confirm the theory put forward by Merson.

Whatever the decision that is made, it is only fair from the fans’ point of view to get a resolution as soon as possible. The more this drags on, it has the chance to destabilize the club.

The Gunners are currently on a nine-match winning streak and it is important for the entire squad to be in harmony for that to continue.

Taking a look at this Arsenal team, it is clear that Ramsey has a lot to offer and that he is a crucial member of the squad. So, even if he is going to be sold or if he stays, it is the job of the board to sort this situation out as quick as possible.
