Finishing 2nd will be a saving grace for Arsenal this season

After a lengthy stay at second spot this season Arsenal has a chance to finish as Premier League runners-up. More so after usual slip-up from Tottenham that allowed Arsenal just two points behind their arch-rivals in the Premier League table.

Last week they suffered 2-1 defeat at the hand of Southampton at home where they could have secured the second spot.

Arsenal will be looking to get all three points from their last game against Aston Villa at the Emirates and put an end to so-called successful campaign.

They would also hope that result of Newcastle vs Tottenham clash will go their way to finish above spurs.

Tottenham’s recent form isn’t too good as they manage to get a point from possible four. On Sunday they will travel to Newcastle who could still be fighting for survival in top-flight football.

So Arsenal would be keeping an eye on that clash and hope Newcastle somehow manage to get good result.

Finishing second or third will guarantee automatic Champions League spot for Wenger’s man and it’s up to them to get the desired result against poor Aston Villa.

It is highly unlikely that Arsenal will lose against Villa but they need to be brutal in front and defend well. A second spot would certainly feel some sort of consolidation after a series of under-performing displays.

Whether we finish second or third, it is basically best chance we’d got to win the elusive title and thanks to our typical inconsistency we bottled it up.

The last game of the season still has all the excitement with champion’s league spots and battle for relegation involved.

For us it remains to be seen how we put a good show and finish the season on a positive note at Emirates.

Arsenal has won Fair Play League this season but most of us would prefer Title instead.
