Deal confirmed: Arsenal complete signing of midfielder, Medical done after Wenger sanctions move

Gedion Zelalem

Arsenal midfielder Gideon Zelalem is a player who has been the subject of an unending loan transfer saga since the winter window flung open.

The 19-year-old was first loaned to Glasgow Rangers where the midfielder helped the 2nd Division he helped them gain promotion into the senior league.

According to reports in the Metro, having returned to Arsenal in January, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund were planning on taking him on loan with an option to buy.

However, De Telegraaf(as per Daily Star) are reporting that the North London club have already offered a contract extension to the talented midfielder and Arsene Wenger has sanctioned a loan move for the player.

Zelalem will join Dutch side VVVVenlo on loan after the youngster completed his medical and a deal has been agreed between the two clubs. Although there is no official confirmation yet, it seems like the deal is all but done and official confirmation can be expected soon.

He made his senior debut for Arsenal in the FA cup against Coventry at the tender age of 16 years. A year later, he featured in the Champions league. He is a player you’d love to watch or have played for you as his first touch is aligned with the likes of Mesut Özil’s.

He is a player blessed with vision, guile, and delivery. Zelalem was once touted as the next Fabregas in Arsenal, however, unlike Fabregas, he has found difficulties breaking into the first team despite his skillset.

The German star’s biggest challenge has been his frail outlook which makes one wonder if he won’t be bullied all over the park by premier league oppositions.

I remember seeing him play during our tour at the USA against MLS all-stars and saying to myself, “this dude will be something special for us”.

I really hope the management and Arsene Wenger do what they must to induce him into the first team as soon as possible. He is definitely a star in the making.
