Sky Sports Journalist confirms that Arsenal are on the verge of completing new signing

Shkodran Mustafi

Good day, Arsenal fans!

After a disappointing opener at home against Liverpool, it is understandable that everyone is distressed, upset, with the club and with Wenger, and above all, frustrated yet again, with a lack of signings.

But behold! Some good news for us, all.

Kaveh Solhekol, a news reporter with Skysports, has had something interesting to say on his twitter account in the early hours of today:

German international Shkodran Mustafi, who currently plays for Valencia, has been linked with Arsenal for some time now, and his possible arrival at the Emirates has gathered the attention of several news networks, pundits and Arsenal fans ever since Arsenal defender Gabriel injured himself in the dying hours of a game against Manchester City.

Mustafi, who has featured 12 times for Germany, has played in England before, enjoying a brief stint at Everton. He did not make any first-team appearances for the side during his time there, eventually transferring to Sampdoria and then Valencia.

Mustafi is a tough tackler, filling in for Mats Hummels in one of Germany’s first games in the Euros.

A tough tackler, Mustafi has been often called a great overall central defender who is a quick first tackler, someone who could play well with a high-lying, mobile and ball playing partner such as Laurent Koscielny.

In the aftermath of Arsenal’s opening day defeat against Liverpool, where Wenger was forced to play the young and inexperienced duo Calum Chambers and Rob Holding in the heart of defense, ( of which the latter had till that point never played a premier league game in his life), the urgency of a new central defender who can partner Laurent Koscielny has increased.

The Gunners are in need of someone who can help shield Petr Cech  against quick, counter-attacking teams in the premier league in the months to come. Per Mertesacker is injured till January, while Gabriel Paulista is at least 6 to 8 weeks away from complete recovery.

There are reports that have claimed that Mustafi in fact wants a move to the Emirates. Just as of today, The Express has reported that Mustafi is ‘reportedly keen’ on joining Arsenal.

Well, several reports indicate that Wenger could intervene to makes sure this one goes through. Arsenal are in serious trouble with central defenders, there is no doubt about that.

Do you think Mustafi could be an Arsenal player soon?

  1. Arsene Wenger is fraudulent and his unfulfilled promises for a world class striker and a defender has not come to pass. He is just reluctant manager who doesn’t have a listening ears for other people opinions.

  2. Bonaroca:- I think all the correspondence regarding Mr Wenger signing a top Central Defender and Centre
Forward are just speculations and now I should believe that most of the Arsenal Supporters are most
probably frustrated due to the fact that so much hope is given that Arsenal are going to sign the two
necessary players but when (Closing Date) comes most probably none are signed to strengthen the two (2) week spots.
Ii it not about time the Board and Mr Wenger give due and show respect to those thousands who week in week out pay good money, instead get no due attention plus bad results while the Manager is paid Millions and no doubt so do the shareholders who enjoy the plush seats at the Emirates.

  3. Wenger lacks conscience and has no more passion on d game so he should quietly quit as to pave way for a more sincere and decisive coach. In spite of his achievements football had gone beyond what he thinks. It’s obvious that he suffers brain drain, lack of vision, focus and no more pride 4 d team. Arsenal fans are too weak, it is high time we bundle the old economist (dictator) out. Until we wake up from and push Wenger out Arsenal will remain a nightmare team without expectations……..

  4. Dimishing returns had set in on wenger. His short range passes or long overhead ball tactical approach is now known to every coach in premier league hence his inability to make decisions on the club needs. In my opinion he should leave while the ovation is still high so that the club can progress. Arsenal will never win EPL or champions league with wenger on board, things have changed and wenger is still riding the former glory. If he is not buying players good, increase your work load. Train like you never did before, change tactise, spy on opponents before match day and have plan B and C.
