Arsenal: Who are expected to start upfront against Liverpool

The Premier league is about to get started in a month and in Arsenal's first game of the season, we still don't know who'll play upfront against Liverpool at the Emirates.

The season is about to start and the first game of the season is on 14th of August and that ain’t far. I was looking at the calendar yesterday and suddenly something struck my mind. We don’t have a striker for the opening game of the Premier League!

The first game of our season is a month away where we face Liverpool at Emirates Stadium without a top quality striker. Who’s gonna be that player who starts for Arsenal as a striker in our first game of the season ?

  1. Chuba Akpom

Went out on loan last year to Hull City gaining them the promotion to the Premier League. It was a good loan deal, obviously because of the promotion but he didn’t play week in and week out and he’s never scored a senior goal in a premier league game for Arsenal. And the other option is

2. Yaya Sanogo

Wenger had high hopes for the French striker but it didn’t work out as he was loaned out several times to Ajax fc and then to Charlton Athletic where he played 8 games and scored 3 goals. The third option is

3. Theo Walcott

He could play down in the middle but as we’ve seen in the past seasons, he hasn’t been in a top form and the position doesn’t suit him with the kind of game Arsenal plays. He didn’t even make it to the England squad.

4. Olivier Giroud

He has just finished playing one tournament where his team France lost in the finals. He hasn’t had a rest yet so presuming Arsene Wenger has been giving extra rest time to everyone who represents his country in big tournaments, it’s safe to say that he’ll also get minimum three weeks off. that means he’ll come back just before the start of the premier league. he’s gonna need some time to get back to his best.

These guys need to be sharp and really really ready to go all guns blazing from the start of the season and i think Giroud will be lacking that sharpness for the first few games.

We are up against Liverpool in our first game of the season and we all know that Jurgen Klopp sets up his team with lots of energy and intensity and Liverpool are already playing friendlies.

It’s really worrying. We still haven’t got that striker who’ll play from the start of the season and what are we waiting for ?

I know we tried to get Vardy and that fell through and that’s it. We may not have that main line striker. Even Alexis Sanchez, who could possibly play in that position for the first couple of games has been out injured and it’s difficult to say if he’ll start in the first game of the season.

Arsenal really needs to hurry up and get that top quality striker who can play regularly at the top most level of the game.

It’s just not good enough at the moment from the board and the manager, the way in which Arsenal seems to be just pacing around from target to target and finally buying no one.

We have been in need of a striker from the past two seasons and haven’t got nothing for the start of the season. Arsenal should surely have an idea of who they want!
