Arsenal to launch £25 million bid for Morgan Schneiderlin

With just under three weeks remaining in the footballing season, the rumours are getting hotter by the day and today we have got some interesting piece which should excite many Arsenal fans. Multiple sources are reporting that the Gunners are preparing a bid for Southampton defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, with the player expected to leave in the summer.

The Frenchman has been one of the best central midfielders in the League in recent year’s and has been linked with a move to the Gunners many times in the past, latest being last summer when Arsenal were on the hunt for a defensive midfielder.

The reports suggest that we are edging closer to his signing, with a £25 million bid expected to go in sooner than later. Wenger has been a keen admirer of the midfielder and has enquired multiple times on the player’s availability. However it finally seems that the French manager will get his hands on the prized asset with the midfielder showing interest in moving to the Emirates.

Wenger has known the player even before his Southampton stint and if the urban legend is to be believed, then it’s the French manager who recommended Schneiderlin to the Saints in the first place.

He is an excellent holding midfielder and offers that lovely bit of grit and style. He is physically well built and can also put in a tackle, to break the opposition’s attacks. His heading skills are well documented and the Frenchman has also dominated the midfield many times during his spell with the Saints. He is technically sound and has also shown his box to box abilities in the past few seasons.

Coquelin has been brilliant since his return and is one of the main reasons for Arsenal’s resurgence since the turn of the year. If we go by the stats then he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the League currently in terms of tackles and defensive actions per game. Despite his inspiring performances there is still room for another midfield enforcer considering that Flamini and Arteta are the only other options available, who are well past their primes.

There is definitely a need for another player who can play alongside Coquelin or replace him when needed and Schneiderlin just about fills these requirements. He can replace or displace the Coq, but can also play with him when the situation demands as he is also good technically.

He will cost us good amount of money as he valued at around £25 million, but if we are to go for the title next season we need more than one quality player per position considering the history Arsenal has with injuries. We have other options also available in the market, but they will need some time to adjust to the Premier League which Morgan doesn’t need.

Should we sign Schneiderlin?
