Arsenal to announce the signing of star this week

Kelechi Nwakali

With the fans waiting for an update on Leicester City star striker Jamie Vardy, Arsenal are reportedly preparing to announce a deal this week.

In yet another never-ending Arsenal transfer saga, it seems we are left with only few more days before the Gunners officially announce the latest signing for the Arsenal academy.

The reports in the Daily Star claim that the North London club are likely to announce the signing of the young Nigerian sometime this week. Could young ace follow fellow Nigerian Alex Iwobi and have a place in the Arsenal first-team this season?

Nwakali who celebrated his 18th birthday last weekend can feature in the attacking midfielder role and also upfront. The report in Daily Star further states that the North Londoners will pay a fee worth of pay £3 million to sign him.

The Mirror reported earlier in March that the 18-year-old ace has decided to move to the North London outfit, but there has not been any official announcement since then from the club, which seems to be expected this week.

Nwakali seems to follow Manchester city’s star Kelechi Iheanacho who put up some brilliant performances last season after performing impressively at the 2015 under-17 World Cup. His older brother spent majority of his time on loan after he was signed by Manchester City three years ago

Goal.com reviews the 18-year-old star had also attracted the interest of Premier League giant Manchester City and Bayern Munich including Sporting Lisbon, but it is likely he is going to continue career at the Emirates Stadium. He said:

Back in March, the youngster confirmed the move by claiming that he has signed a five-year contract. He said:

“I just came back from London; I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal,” Nwakali was quoted by Goal

“So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.”

Toni Kroos, Kelechi Iheanacho and Arsenal’s former captain Cesc Fabregas has all won the Golden Ball before, and the Nwakali could prove to be the next big star to come out of the competition.

He might not be effective this season, but you cannot rule that out considering Iwobi who burst onto the big stage last season, with some impressive performances.

Kelechi scored a lovely free kick for Nigeria U-20. Here is the goal.
