Olivier Giroud makes announcement on his future amid transfer speculation

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has once again reiterated his desire to stay at the Emirates club beyond the summer, as per reports in football.fr.

Recent reports in the media claimed that the 30-year-old striker wants to leave the North London club in search of regular playing time, with a return to France topping his wishlist.

The French striker who earns £100,000-a-week on his current contract has struggled for game time this season with Wenger preferring to field Sanchez as the lone striker upfront for the majority of the season.

However, Giroud claims he is happy at Arsenal and is determined to win the Premier League with the Gunners. Speaking to French website football.fr, he said:

“There is nothing fixed, but I would say that today I feel good at Arsenal. I have two more years on my contract, we will see what the future will be.

“The Premier League is an increasingly high-profile and contested championship, where five or six teams can potentially claim the title. This is why I still want to continue to win this title.”

Despite failing to command a starting spot on a regular basis, the French striker has scored 12 goals and might feature in the upcoming FA Cup final against Chelsea. He has been super effective as a super-sub and it will be great if he can find the back of the net this weekend too.

Wenger is expected stay with Arsenal beyond the summer and an announcement is expected to take place after the Cup final. The Gunners are expected to spend big this summer and Giroud’s future will depend on how much recruitment they do upfront.

Olivier is a good option to have on the bench, but his performances as a starter haven’t been impressive. So, Wenger needs to sign a big striker this summer with Welbeck challenging him for a starting spot and Giroud continuing as a super-sub.
