Arsenal scouts watch Yusuf Yazici

If you have paid close attention to Arsenal’s transfer targets under Arsene Wenger, Yusuf Yazici is a name you might have heard before, now he is attracting interest from the new boss Unai Emery.

The 21-year-old, who has played all over the midfield across 35 appearances for his hometown club Trabzonspor, was a favourite of Arsene Wenger’s with the recently departed manager watching the youngster in person on one occasion.

Scoring 10 goals and creating 5 assists this season alone, it is not surprising that the Gunners are keen on signing the prolific player.

The Turkish talent is represented by the same Agent as Mesut Ozil and according to Turkish Football, Arsenal have already begun talks with the player.

Arsenal are not alone in wanting the player, according to Yazici’s agent Erkut Sogut:

“He is the most promising youngster in Turkey, he scored 10 goals in the league this season. His technique is brilliant, we have offers from Italy, from the Premier League, from Germany and Spain.”  he told Turkish-Football.

New boss Unai Emery and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat may have a fight on their hands to secure the player’s signature, with a whole host of teams rumoured to be interested in the talented midfielder including AC Milan, Roma and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The reported fee looks to be around £17.5m which seems reasonable for the player. With a rumoured depleted budget of £70m at his disposal, Emery may have to be creative and bring in talent like Yazici at cheaper prices.

With Mislintat and Emery showing interest in defensive midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as well as Yazici, fans might see a revitalised midfield in the coming season.

Called “One of the greatest talents in football” by the Gunner’s highest paid player Mesut Ozil and earlier this year being named in UEFA’s ’50 most promising players’ along with young stars Ryan Sessegnon, Malcolm and Lucas Torreira, Yazici is definitely one to watch and could be a very exciting prospect if he comes to the Emirates this summer.
