Arsenal move to agree deal for €8m-a-year striker, negotiations already underway

Arsenal are ready to offer £51m to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus as Alexis Sanchez’s replacement if the forward leaves the Emirates, according to reports in the Express.

The Gunners are fearful about losing the Chilean star in the summer, with a number of top European clubs keeping tabs on his contract situation including PSG, Bayern, Chelsea, Man City.

Alexis has been in scintillating form for the Gunners this season with 15 goals in the league already but is yet to sign an extension with the club with his contract due to expire in 18 months.

With his future uncertain as of yet despite him performing in full force for us, the North London club are reportedly said to be lining up potential replacements in case they are forced to confront with the eventuality of his departure.

And the Gunners are said to have earmarked Marco Reus as the man to fill his boots and are ready to approach Dortmund with an offer of €60m in order to secure his services according to reports in WhoScored.com.

The report also states that Arsenal have opened negotiations with Dortmund with a view to making the transfer in the summer and a five-year deal worth €8m (£6.8m) per year has also been offered to Reus should the transfer happen.

Reus, whose contract with Dortmund expires in 2019, has missed several fixtures this season due to injury meaning he’s produced just one goal and three assists in five league games.

Nevertheless, he is a top class player and one of the world’s best when fit, his signing would be a like-for-like replacement for the Chilean should he depart.

But given his troubled injury record and seeing him miss chunks of the last couple of seasons with injuries, his signing might not be something too pleasing for the Emirates faithful if it comes at the cost of seeing our beloved forward depart the Emirates.

Moreover, the price being quoted would make him our record signing and seeing the club spend buck load of cash on a player likely to miss large durations of the season along with our historic and traditional club injury record might be hard to digest.

An addition of a player of Reus’s caliber is more than welcome to the club but never at the cost of losing one of the best players to have played at the Emirates in recent years and certainly not the leading goalscorer in the Premier League.

That’s another transfer story doing the rounds regarding our beloved Chilean and pretty sure there will be plenty more to come until one day our man signs along the Dotted lines and chooses to stay with us hopefully till he is 40 years old, while also inspiring a whole new generation of players to become the enigmatic and tireless worker he is.

Hoping to see him all smiles with Wenger in the Background on the day of his contract extension sooner rather that later.

Till then COYG !!!!!
