Arsenal prepare surprise move for Thorgan Hazard, Belgian star wants Premier League return

Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly among the contenders to sign Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Thorgan Hazard in the summer.

The Belgian footballer has enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Bundesliga outfit this season with 11 goals and seven assists to his name, and he is now being linked with a potential return to England, Jeunes Footeux claims.

Thorgan, who is the younger sibling of Chelsea star Eden, joined the west London giants from Lens in the summer of 2012 with a view to breaking into the first-team at Stamford Bridge.

However, he failed to make a similar mark as his elder brother and had to contend with loan spells with Zulte Waregem and Borussia Monchengladbach before the latter signed him on a permanent basis in 2015.

According to Jeunes Footeux, Arsenal could potentially compete with Everton in order to bring the attacker back to the Premier League in the summer.

It is added that the Bundesliga club would be willing to do business with their Premier League counterparts, should they meet their asking price which stands at around £15.6m.

Ex-club Chelsea were previously deemed to have a buy-back clause on the player’s contract before sporting director Max Eberl declined the speculation.

A move for Thorgan would come as a huge surprise for the Gunners faithful as he has not developed in the same way as Eden, who continues to play a pivotal role for Chelsea.

Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger likes to take a risk or two and could move in for the Belgian (if he stays) amid the uncertainty over the future of German playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Ozil, 28, currently has just a year left on his current deal, and it looks more likely that he could end his association with the club in the summer.

Arsenal have failed to match the wage demands of the World Cup winner, and he may play his final game in the FA Cup final against Chelsea this weekend.
