Arsenal officially confirm that Santi Cazorla has left the club

Santi Cazorla

Arsenal have just confirmed that Santi Cazorla will be leaving the club at the end of his contract in June, Gunners official website have confirmed.

After being ruled out for a massive 19 months with a succession of injuries stemming from tendon issues in 2016, Santi Cazorla has been recovering, only recently joining the first-team training.

Former Villareal teammate stated Santi would join Villareal earlier this week but only today have Arsenal confirmed the move.

Making 180 appearances for Arsenal and scoring 29 goals for the club, the Spanish midfielder has more than left his mark on the club, being called one of the most technically gifted players in the Premier League.

His most memorable moment must be his beautiful free-kick scored in the FA cup final in 2014 that led the comeback to win the trophy.

The move may be before the talented player retires, being 33 years old and suffering a long-term injury will make it very tough for the player to rejoin a top Premier League side like Arsenal; this may be prompting the move back to his hometown club Villareal, who finished 5th in La Liga this season.

It may be a tough blow to lose Santi Cazorla, but with Jack Wilshere’s return to the first-team squad, Aaron Ramsey having a stunning season and recently winning Arsenal player of the season.

The potential purchase of Nice midfielder Jean Michael-Seri, hope should not be lost for Arsenal to mount a title challenge next season

The midfielder will be missed sorely, but after becoming a fan-favourite at the Arsenal, Arsenal fans will want the best for the player and will surely be wishing him well in the future.
